Progress Thread Komo's 1990 GT - Parts Gathering Purgatory

That will install in the top cover and go from the switch to the connector on the harness that comes through the trans tunnel.
Ok sorry but what is the ‘top cover’? Where the shifter bolts to? I was expecting to jack the car up and unbolt this sensor from up near the top side of the transmission but now I’m unsure.

Man there is like no photos and very little information about the Neutral Sensing Switch online. I’d like to be able to at least see a photo of what I’m going to try to replace before just unscrewing a sensor. I imagine I’m gonna have to do it half blind with the transmission in the car. Is that sensor just hanging off the transmission the sensor @AeroCoupe ?

Would it be smart to buy a Quarterhorse now before they can’t be found new anymore? I was reading up on them and coretuning has a package available.

Realistically the supercharger and heads probably won’t even be installed this year so I’m just trying to plan ahead.

Re :Quarterhorse. The tuner I talked to said he is the guy that wrote binary editor and is friends with the Moates guy. Apparently they are back in business. At least that's what I was told.

My 2 cents, and I might be overcharging.... put that low boost Paxton on w the included FMU and all your stock stuff and rock it until you come up with a plan for all the adders. Then take off the FMU, put on your stuff and get it tuned. By then there might even be something better.

Sometimes squirreling aways stuff makes you by stuff twice.

Ran across this place but not sure if it’s what you are referring to.

They are Honda guys but Moates supplied a lot of units to that crowd.

Not saying I’m building a monster but I do have TFS heads going on as well. But if the FMU and the A9L can handle heads and the Paxton then I could just run them as is. I’m not looking for peak power at this point just something fun, but also don’t want to mess something up not having a tune if a tune is necessary. I’m a long way out from anything, have more pressing things to take care of but I just like to have a plan.

Edit: did you mean I should hold off on putting the heads on and just do the Paxton?

The coretuning QH package is $500 so I’ll hold off on that.

I read that thread. A standalone sounds like a lot of work, was hoping to not have to go that route but seems like a lot of people are recommending the Holley System.

Ya their website is up and running but the actual QH chip says discontinued. I have time so I’ll just see how things play out.

Yeah. It's pretty quick and easy to put on the blower. Then you can enjoy that while you wait to do the heads and other stuff.

If it's the kit I'm thinking it is a complete set up for a stock engine and will work fine with everything that comes in the box. What was the part number for the kit?

It’s 1001831SL so hopefully the full kit. Kinda sad on just a stock motor it’s advertised as only putting out 275hp at the crank.

I got a vibration I need to figure out prior to doing anything. I feel like it’s the clutch or flywheel almost. PO said it was a new McLeod clutch but I feel like he also shiested me on some other things so who knows.

Driveshaft is an aluminum FMS one, don’t know what else it could be. I put a new balancer on.

One other thing (i know i jump around a lot) is my AirBag dash light comes on, blinks, stays on, or doesn't come on at all at times. I finally counted the blinking when it was blinking and was getting either 6, or 66. I researched that and most people say thats the ClockSpring going out. I read i should test my horn and cruise control to narrow it down as they could all be affected by the clockspring.

Unfortunately it looks like no clocksprings are available new, should i risk going the ebay route?

Would this be something sending the airbag module to AirBagSystems (i think thats the company name) be worth doing?

Does the cigarette lighter work? Same fuse powers the horn. Fuse #16 and it’s a yellow 20A.

You are better off getting g a clock spring from here:

www.car-part.com

Plug the year in, make, model and then under “select part” choose “interior” and then choose “clock spring”.

Here is a great site for air bag info like codes and how to fix it.

Nice ya I think that was the airbag code site I found searching around.

And thank you for the recommendation for car-part.com, typed in the information and two popped up in yards in Canada. I’ll contact one tomorrow.
