Progress Thread 12th Owner: My '93 Notchback Restoration & Performance Build

This is why this site is so high quality - The brotherhood helping to make our cars better.
yup and definitely seems like a friendlier place than the corral lol. I mean there are some guys there that are helpful and don't ge their panties in bunches often as some others are notorious for so all in all I just deal with those who care to help without pumping their chest out all the time..... :D

What's funny is that it doesn't come up all that often. Folks are either getting the right bolts with their parts or extremely lucky. You would think that we'd see threads about that thing specifically, more often.

It's been some time since I had to install a water pump but when I did, I'd ordered a quality bolt kit before hand knowing all my stuff was from the factory so, I didn't run into this issue or even learn about it until later.
yeah it's been a minute since I've had to change one out on any of the Stangs. Most recent maybe 3 yrs ago on my Nissan frontier though....:D

Dudes used to get Cobra, GT-40, and Explorer plenums, extrude honed all the time.

They usually clean up the ports by hand, hook it up to the machine, and push abrasive Playdough through it until they get the inside diameter they're after.

Before The performer RPM and the RPMII intakes were available, my buddies shop's goto was extrude honed cobra intakes.
I didn't think it could be done on a gt40 tubular upper though, just the lower which would most likely make it pointless in that case.
Back in the day i ran a set of extrude honed twisted wedges.

Habu, if you have an intake that you like and want to run, personally i would send it to them.
Probably regardless of cost, just keep in mind i subscribe to buy once, cry once theory these days.
I'm getting older and doing things two and three time itself was getting old.

Have you thought about having the upper professionally ported? Tom Moss has ported a lot of them.

Spoke to Tom on a fb thread not long ago - he said they have hung up the carbide bits and retired

I think my box r lower was one of the last intakes they did honestly.

Is that timing cover/waterpump bolt kit from LMR good? I believe they are ARP bolts if im not mistaken.
while we are on this subject I forgot and believe I already bought, actually a quick look at my list for the 331 build I have not bought a pump yet. I'll have to buy a pump but will likely reuse the oem hardware....

Dropped the Trick Flow Series R intake off at Extruse Hone AFM on Monday. Cost, including a 10% military discount, was $671.29. Here is a before shot looking down the throat of the 90mm intake. Additional shots to follow once I pick it up plus dyno results following my scheduled 3 July dyno session.

Here's a Super Ford article on the Extrude Hone process from October, 1996.
