    Okay, so I've decided to rebuild a turbo block for my car (88 lx vert). I've already done the swap, I just want a fresh engine. Any recommendations? I'd like to supe it up a bit, but not too much. She's still only going to be a street beast. Any recommendations on brand of parts is welcome too.

    tranny swap question

    I did try the screwdriver thing. Problem was that I didn't detach the brake pedal from the pushrod or the clutch cable from the quadrant. Is the quadrant under the dash or under the hood? I don't really have any clue what I'm looking for.

    Alright. I'm to the point of removing the pedal assembly from the donor car. I've got the four nuts off the firewall. One nut and one screw off the top part. Everything unplugged. Is this where I just pull as hard as I can to get the brake pedal out? It doesn't look like there is anything...

    obsolete part??

    How many wires are there? I haven't actually looked at it. The nss wires, just twist them together and cap them off? (crude example, but the point is that I'm not attaching them to anything else, right?)

    Dug into my tranny swap info again. One place said that I need the back-up light wiring harness. Had a part number and everything. Went to the dealership and aparently the part is obsolete and the can't even order it any more!

    I'm assuming that the places that sell the pistons would probably have the rods and crank too. Would my friend need to replace the crank for sure?

    same engine, the tranny will bolt right up. I believe that the wiring harness is a little different depending on the year because they put sensors in different locations.

    A friend of mine has a Merkur that he just had a modified head and a hybrid turbo installed. Says it has between 350 and 400 hp. He had it over 100mph in a block and a half. Now that's power.

    A buddy of mine has a 4.6L in his stang and he wants to bore it out to fit 327 pistons. We've looked around and can't seem to find any kits for this. Any suggestions?

    You know, I did the same thing with mine. My car started and ran just fine without it. Thrust washer for the torque converter maybe? Either way, I'm swapping in a T-5. But my buddy wants my auto (after it gets rebuilt) so maybe I should dig that thing out.

    If your tranny is slipping that bad, your problem might be more than just burned fluid. After you change the fluid, I'd check to see if there were any metal shavings/particles in the fluid/filter. If there is, you may want to think about changing the torque converter.
