4.6 to 327

A buddy of mine has a 4.6L in his stang and he wants to bore it out to fit 327 pistons. We've looked around and can't seem to find any kits for this. Any suggestions?

i don't think it can be done. the largest bored displacement i've heard of on a 4.6 is a 318. maybe you could use a 5.4L block/internals if you're looking for serious displacement?

I don't think there is enough metal around cylinder bore to bore it out that much...

327's pistons are for a 4 inch bore. I don't think you could go that much.

5.2litres. manley, cp, probe all make good pistons. mahle makes some good ones too.

Bore alone will NOT get you much over 288". The sizes you talking about requires a stroker crank and special rods.

I'm assuming that the places that sell the pistons would probably have the rods and crank too. Would my friend need to replace the crank for sure?

ya you need to do a stroker crank as well as the rods. i personally wouldnt go with a stroker motor. given a choice id go with a big bore and spend the money i saved on the stroker crank on darton sleeves.
