    Vacuum distributor question

    Most are on the front of the carb at the bottom of the base. Sometimes they get loose and come out. There are several variations of the 4100. Do you have the tag or part numbers?

    Yes, they get worn inside and won't get a good contact. There may be something else wrong, but I would start there. Cut it off and do what Vinyl66 said. Don't try to squeeze it together, it will have an even worse connection.

    It sounds like you may have a 4100 off of a hi-po engine (65 Falcon?). The hi-po carbs did not have vacuum ports. The distributors on the hi-po engines used mechanical advances. Where did you get the carb? If it is a hi-po 4100, you have a rare find.

    There were about 6-8 very small spot welds around the lid. I drilled them and used a thin scraper and tapped it around under the lid enough to get the duck billed pliers on it and bend it back.
