I have a 98 Cobra with the split radio and cd player but I have a double din 7 inch screen stereo I want to put in it. I was wondering if the a/c and radio bezel from a 01-04 mustang would fit in with no modifications. I'm already aware of the fog light, rear defrost and traction control switches that have to be swapped out. Anyone ever done this??

It can be done but some light modification will need to be made. There are 2 metal ear tabs that will need to be removed and small bracket fabbed to mount the cd player to underneath it. When you get your trim pieces from the usual sources (metra being the most common) you will see pretty easy where the 2 bolt holes need to go. If that is the only part of the swap you will be doing it will be easier, some will go on to swap the center consolesas well which requires rewiring. It's a project I will be tackling at some point but I am a bit concerned about the wiring. See pictures:

I actually just finished this task today in my car. I have a 99 GT. I'm pretty sure its relatively the same between ours. The AC has no problems fitting in with the new bezel. There are also two push in clips that have to be cut off the 01-04 radio bezel for it to go in right (mine did not have holes for these clips to go into) but it does fine without them. I got my bezel without the buttons on the bottom which I just want to put blanks in, but am having problems finding them... any other questions?

V-6 cars have the blanks. I'm not concerned with the double din unit as much as the wiring I want to do. Relocate fog light button and defroster as well to the lower center console area. I just need to paint my pieces and find the CD player I want to do my swap.

Just did this swap in my 94 Cobra clone. As already said, you'll have to cur off the two tabs. You can put in plugs to cover the switch holes (I did), but you'll still have to carve out some of the plastic to clear the plugs. Check out my build thread where I installed the double-din bezel - I replaced my radio with a tablet instead:
