my 02 gt has about 31k on it, and i noticed a slight grinding, sort of resistance when shifting from 1st to 2nd, but shifting to 3rd was fine. now shifting into every gear is like the short griding, resistance. i have the clutch floored, and im not shifting very fast. i've tried looking for the trans fluid dipstick but have found nothing. i might just be blind or stupid, but any help will be appreciated, thanks
there is no dipstick. to check the fluid level take off the fill plug thats on the tranny and feel for fluid. it should be just under the fill range. better yet, open the drain plug and change the fluid. when was the last time you changed it? it should be done at the very least every 30k miles. here a thread you might want to look at http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=328655
There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) dealing with that issue. Ford will fix the problem if you will carry it to your local dealer. I suggest you look on here for the discussion concering this TSB that has the TSB posted in it. If you don't find it, let me know and I will see about emailing it to you. Good Luck!
