03-04 Cobra supercharger questions

Hey guy.. So I'm looking into buying a 03-04 Cobra. And I know all of the suspension modifications that I want to do but as far as the supercharger is concerned, I'm a roadracer not so much a dragracer.. So with that said do I want to keep the Roots based supercharger, or do I want to go with a Centrifugal? I know that Roots aren't that great for roadracing, but would a KB charger be ok for roadracing?? Or would a procharger or vortech charger be better? I know that the centrifugal chargers don't have the low end torque that the roots have, but on the flipside they are better for roadracing I believe.. Anyways if you guys could give me your input that would be awesome. Thanks

I know of just a few road racing guys using a roots SC on their cars. Seems that heat soak can be the biggest issue. You'll need to make some serious cooling changes if you plan on running an 03/04 Cobra around a road course for an extended period of time. Doubly so if you up the boost over stock by adding a smaller pulley.

U.M.

Exactly right U.M. I still run the eaton and I have had to do a lot to keep the heat at a useable level. Most road racers switch over to a Centrifugal. A lot of it depends on what you want to do with the car. Are you just a open track day or "solo" kind of driver or are you going SCCA, NASA full race. If you are going full race be ready to kick out a lot of bucks. The super charger will be a small issue. You are looking at Fuel cell. Lexan windows. Full cage.. Double door bars .. The works. Electric cut out. Fire system. and a lot more. I am still going through the expence and pain of it. One thing i did learn.. The first hole you drill or cut in the body is the hardest.

i think the SC is fine if you upgrade the entire cooling system. Brakes, tires, oil/diff cooler, upgraded radiator, roll cage,... looking at your sig. you probably have a good idea of what you need already.

what kind of racing are ya doing and is this a dedicated race car?

Well guys thanks for the input.. i plan on running a full Kenny Brown adavance geometry independent rear suspension. Along with all the road racing stuff that comes along with it.. Includes pretty much everything except the charger.. This car will be a street/ racing car.. Only taken out on the tracks to maybe 5 events a year.. and open track.. I will more than likely run a centrifugal, procharger most likely, there F-1 can run up to like 750hp I don't remember if it's rw or not but still.. I plan on carbon fiber fenders, hood, and trunk lid, from Tiger Racing.. Also I will more than likely get the car down to around 3000lbs.. It's gunna hull ass on the street and track..
