I cant find this anywhere if it has been done. Has anyone ever put 99-04 body on a 94-98 car? I know the doors, fenders, hood, etc. will bolt up and the quarter skins can be changed. I was wondering if anyone has done it and what all it took. I have a 94 GT conv. and was going to put a 03 cobra body on it.

How much do you plan on spending on this? I say its probably possible but the rear quarter panels will be a PITA. Also are you switching roofs also? Or are they the same?

With enough money and a welder you could make it look like a metro is you wanted.

I own my own body/speed shop so the bodywork is nothing to me. I was just wondering if there is something im not aware of different in the chassis. I know the base frame is the same for both cars as well as the roof and interior.

No no no. you got it all wrong.

You need to put the '03 Cobra motor into the SN95 body.

body in white (if you can still find them pre 05) or a v6 shell would work and prob. be easier. They are for the most part the same chassis and setup. you can get the bumpers/other stuff aftermarket or used.

The one question I have is why .

YES, this has been done. A company called Dugan Racing did it. Back when they did the swap the 03 weren't around yet, but they did a 99 or 2000. They also have a body shop and they did it in house. Here is their website:

http://www.dugan-racing.com/

I don't think the car is on their site but I have an old catalog of theirs called "The Mustang Bible" and it is in there. So yes it has been done and can be done!

There was a small article in 5.0 Mustang some time last year with a guy that did this exact thing. It was completely an '03 Cobra from the front, but from the rear it looked stock '95. He somehow made the '95 rear quarter panels match the door skins of the '03. Maybe because swapping the rear quarter panels posed too much of a challenge, I dunno. The article said that the toughest part was matching the front fenders to the doors and front bumper, since the '03 Cobra bumper is like 1" wider than the '95 or something. As far as the front goes, I think the hood bolts right in, and you'd only have to swap the rad support and such to fit the headlights. The one I saw looked flawless from the pic.
