what would it take to build a 03 cobra engine? A crate motor is around 14000, couldnt one be built completely forged for less then that? The KB for 03 cobras is like 3800 i believe, slap that on there and be close to 500HP right? Are the heads on the 03 cobra the same heads as 99-01 cobra heads? Bare 03 blocks can be bought for less then 500 bucks? Im not sure how good this would work, just curious. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Remember you need a 03 cobra computer and wiring harness to go with it. Your best bet is to buy the complete engine top to bottom from www.mustangparts.com. I think its like $8500 used. It really isn't that much extra to do. As long as you have the complete wiring.

But honestly it isn't all that practical for 500hp with a kb.

Same can be said for a GT block w/a forged bottom end and a blower

True, but i thought 4Vs took better to mods then 2Vs? Naturally I would like to see as much HP as possible. The KB cobra blower can run higher PSI then the KB GT blower without changine crank pulley. I think a 03 KB cobra at 14 psi with no other mods will make more HP then a KB GT at 14 PSI with no other mods...just want the most power..

I asked the same question in some terminator forums about a Kenne Bell on an 03 cobra. The lowest numbers I have heard with a KB on an 03 engine is around 460rwhp. They can be tuned to ~500rwhp at 11psi.

Yeah 14,000? Thast a rip.. they are $9500 brand new..

with that you can port the blower ( $500 ) and after putting headers, etc.. before loading it into the car with complete exhaust and induction mods, you'll have a 500+ rwhp 500+rwtq engine. Throw a Kenne Bell blower on there, and you have 600+ rwhp 550+ rwtq..

9500 sounds a lot better, are the 03 internals forged? I would rather buy a forged cobra shortblock for 3500 and build from there...

Thats true as well, guess the most logical move would just be a froged 2V with a KB

I like the idea of the twin screw and instant boost and 2000rpms, plus none of my friends have a KB, they already have novis and prochargers. And so far it seems like the KB kits are very consistant with their numbers, around 400rwhp at 9psi, so im liking them. Im not saying the novi wont make that, i just prefer a KB.
