When I did my oil change today, I filled up 6 qts with a new oil filter, but the oil was barely on the dipstick. Right near the MIN mark. I didn't fill up the 7th quart and did some research, and I guess there is a TSB regarding mis-marked dipsticks for Mustangs. So right now my car has 6 quarts of oil in it, but it's not at the MAX level on the dipstick. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is my cars dipstick mis-printed? What do I need to do?.....Thanks

Same thing happened to me... in summer.. i put in 6 qts and it's right on the good level.. now in winter.. i put in 6 qts and it's just got some of the tips.. peharps it's the season issue?
ijust changed mine and it took 6 1/2 quarts.By the way-whats up w/ these corkscew dipsticks?-annoying

I know mach dipsitcks were miss marked. This is the first I have heard of the GT sticks being miss marked. When i changed my oil it fell right in the middle fo the min max marks both time. Only put in 6qts. Don't worry about the marks. Make a mental note of where it was so you can see if you are burning oil. If you put in to much oil it can cause a whole mess of problems. Frothing, rear main seal failure, loss of hp. 6qts is all you need.

The 2001 Owner's manual says 5 quarts with filter change GT 4.6L SOHC). 5 Quarts and it's right at the full mark.

2003 should be the same do you have a GT, Mach 1 or Cobra?

It's an 03 GT. Im going to call the dealer after finals and see what's up. They will probably blame my wheels, they'll say since the car is elevated a little more, it causes the oil to seem low. Haha

where is the TSB located at?

The TSB I saw, only was simplistic instructions on how to correctly read a dip-stick. It had nothing about the dip-stick being marked wrong, on either the 4.6 SOHC or the 4.6 DOHC.
