Had my car in today for some warranty concerns and they gave me the oasis report for my car. My trans is notchy when cold and made sure it got on the work order for the future. Here is the Special Service Message on the 04 TR3650 from my report:

17952 2004 Mustang TR3650-Hard to Shift

Some 2004 Mustangs equipped with a TR3650 manual transmission may exhibit a hard to shift condition. Engineering is aware of the of this concern and is investigating.TSB 04-15-06 does not apply to 2004 model year Mustangs. Until a new repair procedure and/or parts are available, proceed with normal diagnostic and repair procedures. Moniter oasis for updates.
Efective date:07/30/2004

BTW, my dealer cut all 4 of my rotors, and ordered 2 new rear shocks because I have a leaker. They also said the notchiness in the trans when cold is normal. When it gets colder here, I will bring the car back so they can feel the 2-3 grind. I'm trying to build a relationship with the service writer so didn't want to push the issue. I am already in good with the parts manager since I am also a parts manager (Toyota) and we buy parts from each other. I know how to play the game!!

My 02 3650 is notchy as hell when cold. Sitting in the garage, just after starting it, I row thru all the gears a couple times, and from there it is fine. I still, sometimes, hot or cold, have trouble getting into 2nd. It stops just short of fully going into 2nd, then, with a bit more tugging, it clicks into gear.

so what I'm gathering by this is that they knew about the problem before the '04, tried to fix it... and failed. Keep us updated
