Question re the inside cover of the 05 arm rest. It has three slotted prongs and what looks like a small box attached to it. Any idea what function this provides other than resting you arm?

Are talking about on the door or the center console. If you flip uo the door on the console, there is a peice of plastic that somewhat matches your description. I keep a note pad in there so it doesn't bounch around in the console itself. On the bottom of the inside of the console is a access door to the e-brake.
If this isn't what you're referring to, please clarify. I'm curious to know
