05 Dyno / Product Testing

Stock: 255 hp and 284 tq
After tune, CAI, HC Trap removed: 282 hp and 302 tq
After Exhaust: 0 gain - Mandrel Bent 2.5" from the factory = Sound only mod.

Manual. Before anyone jumps up and says - man 255 is low - think about the fact that this is not the first 05 to dyno 255 (which is more of the norm). Those who say that they dynoing 280+ STOCK are liars. "Oops, I forgot to mention that we tuned it and took out the HC trap" is no excuse for selling as STOCK dyno results - as some have done around here... JMO

See 2005RedGT 's results for more accurate reporting. They look awfully familiar with what Ken got from my car. Thanks to Ken the work he did on my car. Thanks to 2005RedGT also for sharing his results, too.

Owned a 02 Z06 and 03 MACH 1 after driving off dealer lot the 05 GT felt like a 04 GT.With the HC trap removed and opening up the air box after 1800 miles it feels as strong as the mach.Intake roar sounds just like mach with silencer removed.The handling and solid feel is closer to theZ06.Althought the 0 to 60 times are not.

Could this be the difference between a dynojet and a mustang dyno? what did you use?

Edit: i see it was a dynojet. hmm. alot of the others have been on Mustang dynos, which usually read lower then a dynojet. weird...But yeay 2005RedGT, his numbers are pretty much bang on. 235 stock i think.

255 stock on a manual? that's like a 18% loss. What's the auto dyno'ing at? Seems awful low to me.

If you do the math this way...

300 bhp *0.85 (15% loss) then you get 255 rwhp.

They're referring to the Hydrocarbon filter, which is part of the emission control system. Here's a link from an earlier post explaining the mod process:

is tuning really that important after bolt-ons with the 05 or are they just stressing that bc of the money to be made by dyno tuners ???

Hey thanks! Impressive number increase!

Removing the HC filter provided additional 10rwhp and 9rwtq when combined with the SCT tune. That brings the new numbers to 272 rwhp / 297 rwtq.

I still own an '03 Z06 and the '05 Mustang stands tall but I don't think it handles like my Z06. I'm not sure its close enough to compare the two.

Air/Fuel ratios got CRAZY after the intake mod. It was so bad a run was aborted. It took adding a huge percentage more of fuel to get it back down. It was over 15+ so I think tuning is VERY IMPORTANT with mods.

It all depends on how the "max" is reported. Some are reporting the max hp as where the highest torque and horsepower cross (ie 255), others are reporting the max hp as the highest point on the hp curve (ie 280).

I wonder how much Ford will close that gap with the next Cobra? That's asking quite a lot as the Z06 is pretty good all around, but it's fun to dream...

gilmojr's car peaked at 255hp when stock, what are you talking about????
nice numbers after mods and tunning though
