They aren't, which is why the front end bras and rear end diapers are removed.

The leopard spots are left over from a long time ago. Why waste time and money re-painting these test mules that will just end up going to the crusher in another 9 months.

whoever is driving that thing for ford drives like poopy. that thing looks like it was beat to hell. doing curb checks and running into things and such. if i drove it i would feel like i was driving an egg

Think about it though, the idea of a test mule is to abuse it in every conceivable way. They probably encourage driving over curbs and running into things.
