I have noticed lately that my GT makes a clicking sound every 20 or 30 seconds while runnin. It sounds kind of like a solenoid of some sort, kind of like an electric fan kicking on and off. Anyone else hear this? It also seems to be getting louder, unless I am just now worried about it and focusing on it.

No, no A/C, although it does remind me of the compressor kicking on and off. I'm not sure what it is, but it is really starting to bug me. I just want to find out if it is normal or not, and what it is.

Is your's only with A/C on, or is that just the only time you've noticed it?

the defroster activates the A/C, so if you hear it when the defroster is on, its the A/C. thats why manystangs asked about the defroster. can you make a video of the noise? that would really help us out.

I can barely hear anything, including the radio, over the sound of the exhaust (and drone ). I do hear a mechanical gear noise when I turn off the engine, but that's the gauges setting themselves to 0.

It does seem to be related to having the defrost on. It seems like it cycles on and off a lot more than it should though. Is there a piont on the thermostat where the A/C will not engage with the defrost function? I'll also have to check later today...does the A/C light come on when you switch to defrost?

Yes, it cycles frequently in defrost mode. It does this to dry the air without cooling it.

[Guessing] There is no practical operating range where the a/c will not cycle. [/Guessing]

A/c light does not illuminate in defrost mode.

I'll start paying attention to this, but on my mazda, it did the same thing. It was the fans cycling on and off.

Hmm, I haven't noticed it anymore as long as my A/C and defrost is off. I'll listen some more this week, but think mine is related to the defrost, just as everyone described.

On a side note, I hear a clicking/tapping sound from my engine at times, almost sounds like the rockers did on my old 5.0. I'm not sure what it is I'm hearing, but I may make a new post about it if I keep hearing it.

yeah i hear a click every 30 seconds or so when it is idling. It happens no matter what accessories are on... and now i am having a bad fuel problem as well.. Every morning when i go to start her i have to mash the fun pedal to the floor and let her crank for about 10 seconds before she fires up and then dies again a second later and then have to repeat it again before she finally stays on.. and there is a HUGE cloud of white smoke that emits from the exhaust when she does fire...
