1.25" wheel spacers question

i have some 1.25" rear wheel spacers

in the directions it says to torque the spacers down to factory specs then put my tire back on the spacer, then drive around 10 mins. come back take my wheel back off and check the spacer bolts and re-torque if needed

they said to do that 3 times....im thinking what if I put my spacer on and add some thread lock and torque to factory specs and just let it set overnight so the thread lock can cure!????

i want to follow the directions but wouldnt putting thread lock on it be good too!!??

anyway if anyones put some spacers on let me know how ya did it!!!

that's the best way to do it, i wouldn't use thread lock, eventually the heat will keep the spacer locked in place......just take your time with this upgrade, don't want a tire fly off............hotwheels of turborides

hey wyominghotwheel, damn quick again, yeah i was thinking just keep re-torque and do it again, hell your right sure dont want my back wheels falling off , damn i can see that now!!!

by the way how do i find out the factory torque specs, how many lbs???

I would not run a spacer that thick personally. Do you have 3" long studs (not stock)?

Stock TQ specs for a Alum rim would be in the 85lbs range. They will loosen after the first couple drives.

local parts store like pep boys or autozone will have the specs. yea u really dont want a wheel falling off, it can rip ur rear QP a new one!

I had a truck with a spacer like that on the rear. I ran thread loc on it for a couple years and never had a problem. Id use it in a heart beat. Just alittle more help to keep things tight.

Rick, what are the lengths of the factory studs? I am having my rear gears swapped out for 3.73s over Xmas and though about putting the 3in studs in my axles and running a 1/4in spacer to help clearence my 9in wheel from my quad shock. Thanks

My brother had put spacers on his stang, i forget what thickness but wasnt that thick, and the next day his right rear wheel came off or was almost about to come off. B/c of the spacer the lugnuts didnt have enough threads to hold on to so a few of the studs just broke off. After that we replaced the studs with new ones and threw the spacers back in the toolbox. I would recommend getting a little longer studs, it cant hurt.

The spacers we are refering too are not the simple ring with holes on it. Those are the kind from like Pep Boyz that I wanna get on my stangs rear.

The above is a unit that you bolt to your axle using the stock studs. Then the spacer has new lugs that you actually bolt the wheels too. So you have a spacer with plenty of threads. The only thing is now you have 8 or 10 lugs that could get loose not just the stock 4 or 5.

I use to mud with the spacers on my truck and never had a problem. Just gotta remember they are there and check them like you would your wheels lugs.
