1/4 Mile Shift Point

I'm just looking for some opinions on something. With the nice cold weather we're having, my times have dropped quite nicely. When I'm nearing the end of the quarter mile, I am faced with either taking 3rd to red line or just a bit past or shifting into 4th. Now I have two identical 13.945 runs. On the 1/8 of one run I got 9.003. On my second the 1/8 was 8.955 but my redline came up sooner and I held it there rather than shifting to 4th. My question is do you thing a shift to 4th would have improved the time or made it worse. Just curious as to what you pro racers think. Oh and yes I'm still with stock gear and shifter :nonono: .

The rule is usually to stay in 3rd through the 1/4 mile if you have stock gears becuase shifting to 4th at the end would slow your trap speed and 1/4 mile time. That's what i did and it seemed just right. BTW, Nice times.

Keep shifting into 3rd until you hit the rev limiter before the trap. Once you start hitting the rev limiter then ya will have to shift to 4th b4 the end.

I've got 3.73 gears so I have to shift a bit before I hit the end of the 1/4 (into 4th)
