First time running the racecoupe down the 1/4 ever. I actually haven't raced in about 3 1/2 years.

The altitude is at the track is 4700 feet. The altitude correction was 8400 feet or so (that is what the air "felt" like)

The track was really slippery. If you didn't have slicks, you didn't run well at all.

I have 16x8 street tires. My first two runs were at 35 psi. My last run, I dropped the rears to 17 psi.

Run 1
R/T .884
60 foot 2.385
1/8 9.574 @ 78.28
1/4 14.452 @ 99.43

Run 2
R/T .600
60 foot 2.478
1/8 9.613 @ 76.56
1/4 14.620 @ 97.34

Run 3
R/T .647
60 foot 2.212 (better with the 17 psi in the tires)
1/8 9.257 @ 77.94
1/4 14.239 @ 96.85

To put it in perspective, a 99 cobra was running 15.3 to 15 flat. I am not sure if he could drive, though. A late model Camaro ran 12.2 with a 383 and nitrous and drag radials.

I guess it wasn't too bad, concidering the conditions. With some REAL slicks, I should run better, even though my car isn't set up for drag racing.

Don't be afraid to comment. I ain't scared.

SPECS

65 coupe - set up to be a road race Trans-Am type car

331 (302) ALL MOTOR
TFS fully ported heads
Speed Demon 750
Edelbrock Vic Jr intake
Comp Hyd. Roller - 230 int 240 exh @ .050 LSA - 110.0

TREMEC TKO 5 speed

Currie 9 inch. 3.89 trac loc

16x8 Dunlop street tires (no drag radials at all)

Mustangs Plus Suspension (Stiff shelby type road race stuff. 620 springs, shelby drop, 5 leaf, front and rear sway bars, TCP subframes and x brace,)

I am going to race next friday. I am going to see if I can get some slicks before then. I think I can only go with 8 inch slicks. I don't think I can fit anything else back there.

Also, I am thinking of going more agressive with a cam. I will need new gears, new carb, new springs in the head. On a scale of 1 - 10 of idle roughness, I would give my idle a 5, in terms of roughness. I can handle 8. Any suggestions for my all motor combo (besides practice)?

no one, huh?

Well, if anyone on the board is going to be around Salt Lake City on Friday, stop by RMR. I will be the guy with the only red vintage mustang (I think).

If those are corrected times (to sea level) then there is either something wrong with your driving, you have NO traction whatsoever, or the tune is really really bad.....that car should be running in the 12s easily easily.

These are all UNCORRECTED times. They are just what I ran. The altitude is 4700 feet. I forgot the term, but what the atmosphere felt like was close to 8000 feet according to one of the racers.

We don't have corrections on the slips at RMR, but I assume it is a good second slower here in Utah.

That is what I wanted to know......then it is really hard for me to judge as I live in Houston and we race at sea level....going tomorrow in fact. I sounds more like 2 seconds different because of altitude to me though.
