Im finally putting on my Thumpers and was wondering how much more power I would really get from 1.7 rockers instead of 1.6's ?? Im not using full roller rockers Im using the magnums!

I'm guessing with the thumpers your going to have the gt40 spring upgrade so I would just go ahead and spring for the 1.7's IF your going with the stock cam...if not go with the 1.6's with a aftermarket cam...

Yes I have the spring upgrade. I didnt ask for your advice,,I asked how much more power they would provide..Im using the stock valve covers,,with the 1.7's they have to be customized by the oil fill hole..So is the power difference really worth 1.7's?

Sorry for your poor attitude...

Yeah you will need to trim the oil baffle a bit with the 1.7's (I had to)...a cork gasket might allow you not to do that...it really is easy though...just need some snips.

You might get another 3hp or so over the 1.6's if I were to guess...

It all adds up...

If your running the stock cam with thumpers I would do the 1.7's because it gives that extra lift that the ported heads can use. I ran Thumper heads wiht a performer intake, stock cam 1.7's and really liked it.

Ouch, that was harsh willy. lol

I can see 5-8hp with a 1.7 rocker over a 1.6 rocker. I'd stay 1.6 for more camshaft choice. Why the stock cam? You'll more than likely have to remove the baffle or trim it as dave said. I removed mine.

What manifold you using?

Nope, I'm just running with a tube off the oil filler neck.

It is the tube that goes from the oil filler neck to the throttle body...but I have the throttle body line capped off and the tube is just connected to the oil filler neck and pointed towards the ground...there is no filter...

Hell yeah... 1.7s will add lift to the stocker!! and that is power!! BUT... I wouldnt BUY 1.7s vs a bigger cam and the 1.6's you have!! The 1.6 is a good ratio and there are a bazillion cams for that ratio!! cool?? Hey, let us know how you like them... cool??
