Hey there, I just finished putting together the combination that should be shown below. The car sounds like its got a mild cam, could this be the 1.7 roller rockers? Or could I have a problem? it runs really well, but I'm looking for your collective input. Thanks in advance.

At one point i thought my car had a came when i bought but i wasnt that lucky.

The 1.7s might help with the sound a little but the Lope is purely duration and LSA working hand in hand.

Trust me if you had a cam youd know :)

thanks for the quick reply. I know I have a stock cam. I'm just curious if the rockers contributed to the way it sounds or if I have a potential problem. I'll figure it out, or blow it up either way its a blast to drive.

kind of trivial question, but i was told my car had an E cam in it when i bought it but am skeptical, the car deginately has less torque than my old lx had (though that car had the 3.27 gears, vs the 2.73's i have now)

is there any way to tell for sure if a car has a cam in it? what about if the lower intake is off and maybe the heads as well? (though i dont want to pull the cam out just to check it)

Yes you can check what the cam is by pulling the lower intake off.

After its pulled, measure the maximum lift on the lifters with a dial indicator on the intake and exhaust. Right down the results on each cylinder and average all the intake values and all the exhaust values.

So 0.XXX/0.YYY is your I/E average lift using the dial indicator. The specs of the Ecam are .498/.498 if i remember correctly. So if its around that value than you have an ecam, see what i mean?

Stock cams are like 0.444/0.444, maybe a little less now that the engine is old.

one more thing, 1.7s shouldnt change the lope of the car. They might make it a little deeper or louder but the sound pattern should be the same. Rockers only change lift, not duration.

I don't think 1.7s make one's car sound cammed as your'e only increasing lift and not LSA (and perhaps increased duration a hair). I'd check for a vacuum leak. with your vacuum hoses and intake tract.
