Hey guys,

I've been swaying back and forth on whether to buy a newer car or use the money to mod the fox.

What would you guys be looking at with 10-11k to play with? That's including the engine from the ground up and tranny.

i really appreciate any help.

I hope this is considered tech. :(

Patrick

PS. Being stationed overseas sucks. It's 2:30 AM and I can't sleep!

I've already dispatched an email to Rick.

I'm actually wanting to stick with a 306/331/347....and possibly with boost.
I figure turbokits run about $5k. Figure in a bullet-proof Dart block with good heads etc....I'm guessing that'll swallow the $11k right there.

Thanks for the reply!

I guess Rick really is the guy to talk to.

I would say toss around 8k into the motor with rick (including fuel system upgrades), then spend the rest on a tranny and buidling up the chassis. maybe a Tubular front set up and build the rear to what you plan for street/ track...ect.

If you do this, make sure and keep the car insured for what it's worth, not book value. If this is your only vehicle, I think you should consider purchasing a primary, reliable daily driver vehicle before throwing 11 grand into the fox.

I'm army.

I don't have too many bills. My GTI is paid off, no rent since I live on base.

I've been saving for a few months on this new GT, so that's where the money came from.

I figured with 11k you can build a pretty bad ass fox.

well it looks like i spelled hooah wrong. im army too. 3ID. korea soon. you can do alot of good things with that much money. i would build a sturdy short block. decent heads. and throw a turbo on for good measure. you can find alot of quality used parts online. put your money where it counts on parts and remember what your gona be using it for (street, drag). i just pulled my 351 out and i would recomend doing a stroker if you are looking at going bigger. my next deal will be a turbo i think.
