10.5 wheel questions (mustang tuning)

I want to by black deep dish bullet wheels 17 x 10.5, but the mustang tuning web site says will not fit 99+ cobras. WTF? I know there are guys running 10.5 inch wheels on 03/04 cobras.

If you've got wheels from mustang tuning, what type did you get for your 03/04 snake?

I plan on running nitto 555R 315s out back with a button head IRS bolt and possibly spacers if I decide to run a different 315 later.

I'm confused. I tried to call them, but they are closed until Monday.

I run the AFS 17 X 10.5's and they fit fine. Whether the IRS bolt will need to be replaced or ground down, and whether spacers will be required all depends on what tire you mount on the 17 X 10.5 rim.

Is the backspacing on the AFS wheels 27mm too?

i have 10.5 deep rims on my 03 cobra and all i had to do was grind a little off of the suspension that goes inside the rim... just enough to slide a piece of paper in between the rim for clearance...that bolt youre talking about clears the rim when it is on the ground...

I got my 17x10.5 deep dish wheels and love them. Sets off the car nicely.
Didn't get them from Mustangtuning though as I got mine for almost 30 bucks cheaper per wheel elsewhere.

I have 10.5's.

With 315 sumitomo street tires, no grinding or spacing was needed, but my car was the exception I think.

I would highly recommend grinding a little bit or replacement is the best.

When I went to 315 BFG DR's, I HAD to put spacers on. I have 1/4".

Nitto's may not need a spacer......but better safe than sorry.

Even with the suspension fully unloaded the IRS bolt made no contact with the tire sidewall!?!?! Even my skinny Nitto 315's mounted on 10.5's would rub the IRS bolts when the suspension was at full travel...which has the potential of being very dangerous...

Yeah...when I had my car tuned and my tuner was asking about it and when I told him, his reaction was priceless. No rubbing on the tire....needless to say, that day we pulled it off and grinded it to be safe.

BTW Sumitomo's suck.

does anyone run 18x10 deep dish wheels?? im thinking about getting some 18x10 deep dish black bullets...but i was wondering what is the widest tire i could run with this setup and stock springs?? i would prefer nittos but im not sure if they make an 18" tire.. thanks

those tires might suck, but they handle curves like i am on rails and at $107.00 apiece delivered to your door within 2 days for the Brown guy... priceless.... BETTER THAN $200 OR $300 FOR BFG'S

I don't road race, but I will take your word for it...straight line.....they don't do too well.

I paid 125 a piece.....my BFG DR's were 146. No complaints here. My sumi's only lasted 7K, but they might have been a bad set....even my BFG's lasted longer than those.

What about hard cornering...doesnt the IRS move side to side about a half inch?

I am at 8K now and still have about 1/8" of tread.......(keep in mind that it came with about 1/4" new)

But I am easy on it and never blow the tires up on the street.
