GREAT INFO!

In case some didn't see this in the other post. Also please don't think the bold is me yelling it's just easier to read.Since this seems to be percieved as yelling though i'll refrain.[Q
You'll note two big numbers are missing: horsepower and torque. The reason is simple. Much tuning and dyno work remains before final figures are released, but we can do some semi-educated noodling. It's reasonable, even with modest boost, to gain 25-35-percent more horsepower via a well-calibrated supercharger. Given the new 5.0's estimated 412-horse rating, that multiplier yields a guesstimated range of 515-556 horses.

The 5.0's compression ratio is a high 11.0:1. This suggests that, in order to produce a long-lived engine that Shelby is comfortable emissions-certifying and warranting, boost may need to be set at somewhat conservative levels.

11. Also something to think about is in 12 the car will be completely re-designed. Will no doubt have the 5.0 but may be looking at a lighter, IRS equipped car!!!?? Who knows.

$40,000 for a car putting 260 or so horses to the ground? Sounds a little steep. In this economy for sure. Bet you could get that 10 for a heck of a lot less. Especially once the new 5.0 and its 412 horses is out.

2012?
OK boys and goyrls, The irs dreams have clouded the stardate timeline. There will be a Paradox of great proportions if you think that FoMo is going to redesign the mustang after a two year metal stamp.

Yeah after researching it further looks like 14 or 15 comes the redesign. Although the australian falcon platform mustang is the next step. I personally could care less about IRS, but I dam sure wouldnt drop $40,000 on a 250 hp car.

Haven't they been rumoring IRS in a stang since the Fox bodies? You want IRS in a Stang, put it in yourself. Otherwise they will continue to outsell Camaro and Challenger.

For the record I'd vote 2011.

You can't supercharge a 2011 5.0 GT because of the powdered metal connecting rods! They would need to be replaced with better rods 1st!A person could get a great deal on a 2010 4.6 & e-force supercharge it for about the same money. The difference is the 4.6 can be supercharged & with the e-force SC it will have 460HP!I'm very mad at FORD for this you should be able to SC it without changing the rods.I was looking forward to buying the 2011 i may have to rethink this!

The 4.6 has powdered metal connecting rods also.

I wouldn't be too concerned with supercharging the 2011. The powedered metal rods and compression are certainly going to limit the volume of boosted air running through the system, but in the same instance, because of the added compression more power will be made with less effort. Many people have supercharged '03-'04 Mach 1 with no issue and they've got both high compression and powdered rods....and great numbers to boot.

OK guys and girls. I ordered the '11 loaded with everything including glass roof, nav, 19" wheels, 3.73 gears and that crappy spoiler with the camera. Everything went perfect EXCEPT!!!! for one thing. I can't get red candy paint with red brick interior. That really burns me up. With the '10 I could get it but the '11 not. why? makes no freaking sense. I was very close to saying screw it and order a Challenger

Congrats!

Gotta love a red exterior. But with a red interior... I'd have to see it in person, but it sounds terrible. Maybe it'd work with some red stitching in the leather and a few minor red accents on the door panels/dash/seats.

Actually, they probably did you a favor. Let the aftermarket customize it exactly the way you want!

I have a 2007 torch red gt with the red interior and love it.
It is unique, but not too much red in my opinion. I was hesitant when I ordered it but am glad I did.
I have a candyapple red 66 convertible with red seats, red carpet, red dash, etc. (factory stock) and always love it so I plunged in and am very happy.
Look at the red interior before dismissing it.

look i was in the process of buying a cts-v or c55 mercedes. This announcment saved ford one sale.

in spite of wanting luxury and perfomance, and hating the footwell and handbrake placement, i simply cannot ignore the possibilities with this car. you guys are way too caught up in IRS. please listen to me.

this exact setup with track tires and bushings DOMINATED Grand-am racing. thats 996 posche's, bmw's, caddy's, etc. THIS same car with minor mods will dominate GT3 this year.

it doesnt have IRS. it doesnt need it. i know the old catch phrase, "thats on smooth tracks". well where the heck are you racing then?

wait till we see the first chasis dyno's with 93 octane. 412hp is with 91 on purpose i guarantee. this will be underrated for insurance purposes. they should have rated it for 87 octane and left it there.

consider the 350cfm head flow rating with ti-vct. 400+hp was hit the first dyno run they said. One needs to cinsider flow dynamics. Gearbanger knows where im going with this. 3V power per CFM, plus ported 4V head flow. STOCK. throw 5psi of boost. you wont need more. im going to calculate based on 104VE.

airflow should be somewhere near 38.625 lb/minute stock on 91 octane at 12.9 a/f and bsfc of .45.

550hp with bsfc of .55 and a/f of 11.9 = 59.9999 lb/min of airflow. if its a turbo setup.

7.46 psi. hmmmm. kinda makes me wonder how much boost the GT350 has, and what is done to handle the boost it needs for its 550hp rating. its gonna need 8 psi for its whipple hp rating.

Numbers are not adding up.....my guess is the 550hp rating is BS. probably real hp is 500crank , and boost 6psi.

I for one will get the '11, probably as a nice little Christmas present. Under the tree we'll also find a CDC shaker hood scoop kit, some lowered front springs, and maybe a few other goodies.

Yeah, baby!
