yes i turn it off when i am completely done using the nitrous. the valve must be open for it to monitor the pressure in the bottle to know when to turn off. so if the valve is closed and the heater is still on it will think u have low pressure and continue to heat the bottle. if the bottle heats up to much and over pressurizes u can blow the whole works.
