Ok, I have asked similar questions before but recieved little help. I cannot replace the balist wire in the ignition switch to get the full 12v's needed for my flame thrower coil because of my alarm systems "kill switch". However, I am trying to find a way to divert 12v's from another source to the coil. The only problem is I dont have a volt meter. My last option to tab into is the cigeritte lighter. I have heard that it runs on a high current. Also just to clarify, the pertronix flame thrower coil needs a constant power source right?

There is no ballast wire or resistor in the 86-95 Mustangs ignition circuit. If you have another model, we have no way of knowing.

That's why it is a good idea to use the sig under the user control panel (User CP) option. It allows you to post your car year & mods, which help greatly when troubleshooting things. No, it is not there for us to snoop and see any "Secrets" you have hidden away under the hood. Be a good stangnetter and update you sig for future reference & don't keep us guessing.

I figured since that I had a picture of my car and that my name was 70stang that you might have figured out that I owned a 70 mustang. The reason that I posted in this area was because my car is also a 5.0 and since the forum says 5.0 Tech. I was too lazy to fill in my CP.

Try the Classic Mustang forum. There may not be anyone here who knows how the older cars are wired or has access to wiring diagrams for a 70 model.

You can run a fused wire directly to the starter solenoid and then to the contact side of a relay. Use the power feed from the original wiring to one side of the relay coil. Ground the other side of the relay coil. Use the relay center contact or armature for the switched power for whatever device you need power for. Remember that 14 gauge wiring uses a 15 amp fuse and 16 gauge wiring uses a 10 amp fuse.
