I'am looking for a brake upgrade on my 91'. Got the Sn95 spindles and hubs, now I need the rotors and calipers. I found 2 different kits and the only thing I can find differnet is the paint on the calipers and the hoses. There is a $50 difference. Are the 03 cobra calipers different from years past? Look here:http://www.mustangtuning.com/mustang-brake-conversion-kits.html The two on the left.. Thanks..

The 00+ Cobra, Mach 1, and Bullitt calipers are all identical. That extra money is just for the painted calipers. The hoses look a bit different as well, so I'm not sure about that. Either way you go, you'll be VERY pleased with the 13" brakes. I love mine.

With the cobra calipers and 13" rotor you have to use a cobra specific caliper bracket correct?

The cobra caliper brackets come with any of the ford racing calipers (Mach 1, Cobra, Bullit, etc.) so that's not an issue. For the rears, you can grind on a v6 or GT caliper and it'll clear the cobra rotors as well.

Thanks, I was not sure. Can you use the fox brake lines with different cobra banjo bolt?

When I did my brake swap, I bought a pair of stainless steel 03 cobra spec softlines. I compared the two and the size of the opening on the cobra line was bigger than the stock fox line. The hole in the banjo bolt was larger as well. I'm guessing the cobra calipers require more brake fluid flow. I wouldn't use the fox softlines, IMO

No, you need Cobra lines, which are basically 99+ brake lines.

The 94-98 Cobra calipers feature 38mm pistons. The 99-04 Cobra/Bullitt, Mach 1./Anniversary calipers feature 40mm pistons.

The bracket to mount them is part of the caliper. Simply bolt it on, no other bracket needed for the front.

The rear Cobra kit is $170 from summit. Part number FMS -M-2300-M. It does not come with calipers but you can use GT/V6 calipers if you grind the bracket slightly

Get a set of Maximum Motorsports front brake lines, you wont need an adapter for the Passenger side, they fit great and they look awesome!

93 brakes

Would you have any idea of the piston size on the 93 Cobra R, I have the exact same kit on my fox as they do. Thanks -Jeff

Damn this is getting more and more expensive... I looked at the 2300-M kit but if i'm using stock length fox axles dont I need the North RaceCar brackets..? So far I have ordered front and rear brembo rotors from tirerack.com, I was planning on using FMS-M-2320-AF calipers for the front and now cobra stainless flex lines. Rear calipers I was going to use FMS-M-2320-R, I already have (stock length) moser axles and ordered "5 lug Cobra Rear Disc Brake Conversion (11.65" Rotors)" from North RaceCar. Will also need to get brake lines for the rear still as well. I thought about buying the kit from mustangtuning but dont want rubber hoses...what cha think?

13 inch upgrade damn i just wish i had 5.0L brakes my 86 has what the 87-93 had on the 4 bangers. thank goodness i have compression to slow me down.

You just need the spindles out from a 94+ stang... thats what comes in the 2300K ("cobra R") kit.
Its a direct bolt on and an alignment. (you should get a bigger booster/mc also to feed them)

Dave-
:flag: :nice:

PS - They work GREEEAAATTTT! :hail2:

If that's the case then yes you won't need that kit.

However, inm addition to the north race car brackets you'll need

Calipers
rotors
dust shields
rear brake lines
possibly cobra anti-moan brackets.
