13" Cobra Disk Brake Brackets

Another Early Mustang Cobra brake project

Hey guys. I have been reading all the info on the Cobra brake upgrade for early Mustangs over the last several days and have decided to do this to my '65 289 hardtop. I may do the rears one day, but for now I'll stick with drums. I already have Cobra brakes (calipers, SS lines, pads, rotors) plus a complete front suspension from a 96 GT. It doesn't sound like I need any parts from the GT since I am going to use Mustang Steve's front kit. I plan to buy a set of 17x8 '01 Bullit wheels and run 245/45-17 (stock sn-95 tires).
What I don't know yet is what prop valve and master cylinder to use. The car may get discs in the rear, but no hurry. This car is just a weekend/fun car. Not for everyday use. Maybe one road course track event per year *maybe*, and maybe one drag day every couple years. The engine is bad and I'm planning to put a 030 289 in it with decent compression and GT40X heads with either a decent 4V intake or a 6V (3 deuce setup-I already have the intake manifold). The car currently has a C4, but I will probably upgrade the tranny down the road to either an AOD or more likely a T5. My daily driver is an 05 F150 Super Crew so I miss shifting. :)
OK, back to my questions...Is there a master cylinder that I can install with the Cobra brakes that will work with drums out back AND work with rear discs if I ever upgrade? Do I need a prop valve? If so, will any one work with both rear setups?

Thanks for any help. I'm so happy this kit is available now. No one should have to suffer with 40-yr old drum brakes and a single reservoir master cylinder.

There's no simple "always correct" answer to that. There are SO many variables involved it is pretty much impossible to get a set that is perfect out of the box, so plan on using one of those adjustable proportion valves from the get-go.

I would suggest getting a power booster, but many disagree. If you have manual brakes now then you'd have the swap out your brake pedal in order to do that.

I used a 2.3L booster from a Fox-body, a master cylinder from Wilwood, an adjustable pop-valve also from Wilwood, and a "T-Block" as a distribution block. I have a set of 12.2" rear discs on my 9" housing.
