Edbert, That's a nice write-up, and those brakes look great ! Appreciate you taking pictures and documenting that. I need to do a better job of "giving back" when I do projects myself. Seems like I always get in too big a hurry .

I may be able to help someone a little here. I have some '65 front drum assemblies in the classified section. I'll hook ya' up cheap if someone wants the hubs out of 'em.

PS: I agree with 66Hertz, I'd rethink DOT5, as DOT5 can and does absorb water, whereas DOT4 and the like don't.

Actually you have that back-wards, DOT 3 and 4 will absorb water, DOT 5 will not. The moisture that does end up in DOT 3 and 4 would in a sense be "spread" equally throughout the system, while in DOT 5 what ever moisture would be concentrated in one spot and sink to the lowest level since the water is heavier than the DOT 5 fluid. The moisture contamination issue is just one of the reasons, there are many others talked about in those articles I posted.

13's look great Edbert!!!!

Make sure to "season" the rotors when you get it running... oh and be carefull the first time you try a panic stop. After I put them on my lx (90 5.0) I about had to peal my buddy out of the glove compartment, and myself off the steering wheel. You'll love em!

Great write up Edbert!! FYI a old lug nut ,flat side up (screwed down flush to the end of the stud) and 5lb. hammer will safely remove the old stud from the hub/drum without breaking the drum. Cant wait till I get mine on!!!!
