130 AMP WIRING QUESTION

I researched it through stangnet and i am putting a thicker wire from the post on the back of the alt.(replacing the black and orange wire) I have the whole harness from the alt only pulled from the flex tubing.... Now here is my question the D plug on the alt. has a yellow wire that merge's with the black and orange and feeds into one wire Can i take that yellow wire and put a fitting on it so it will bolt up to that post on the back of the alt. or the other option is that i merge the yellow wire the the new thicker wire since they goto the same place can i do this ?

I think you're talking about the sense wire. It's normally attached away from the alt so it can see system voltage. But if wiring is really sound, I dont see how it would be bad to attach it near/at the alt - FFI's harness has one loop the wire to the back of the alternator (to the power cable stud) as I recall.

You could take a look at that harness (on their site) and see if it looks like what you're desiring to do.

Good luck.

I'm using my stock wiring harness
I think we misunderstood eachother.

If I get you right, instead of having the sense wire attach at the starter solenoid, via the stock charge wire, you want to simply (in essense) attach the sense wire to the alternator's charge stud, rather than having it attach in the middle of the charge cable, as it used to.

My point before was that FFI's alternator harness does what I believe you are desiring to do, so it should be a proven idea. I'd check out their product, pic and install article with pics to see if that sounds copacetic.

Good luck.
