15 Years On Stangnet

Obviously I am new here, but I know how it feels. Back when I was 16 I signed up on another automotive forum. The site ended up getting shut down, but there were a group of us that stayed together. One of them made our own forum to talk about whatever on. It was kind of like our place to get away so to and talk about our lives, complain about women, jobs, etc. 12 years later we are still posting on the forum together. It's kind of crazy to have people online that you know each other better than people you know in real life. Go from being kids pretty much, growing up, having families and what not and sharing it with the same people 12 years later that you've never met before.

Redlx. I remember you from the early days.
I have a later sign up date as I was kicked off of most of the sites at least once back in those days.

What year did they pull the plug on all the stangnet websites? Anyone remember that?

I registered in '99 when I had my '83 351 car, but I didn't stick around long. Then in '03 when I got my coupe I came back but didn't remember my original login name so I started over.

You talking about the Geocities-ish websites they let members set up?

That's been a long time. I had one set up for awhile, but I'd say it's been 10+ years since they killed those.


Also, I'm betting the Nov. 29, 1999 join date had something to do with one of the crashes. I actually joined in September of '98, but my account was among those completely wiped out in the first big crash we had. I told Mr. Raburn that my join date was September whatever it was and they set it to August for some reason.
