im looking for the most bullet proof auto trans i can relatively easily install into my now aod equipped 90. theres nothing wrong with it now, but i need more performance out of it, and from reading, piece-by-piecing aods its a super headache. im looking for something i can order and drop in myself for around 1500 dollars. the car will never see over 300/350 to the wheels, but it is getting 4.10s. i just want super reliable dependability and auto/manual valve gear selection for a little fun. there seem to be a decent number of auto drivers on here so im hoping to get some good advice instead of just ordering one of the many tranny/converter combos available

A '99 and up 4R70W out of a V-6 Mustang with go right in and are said to hold up to about 400 horses. You would have to swap out the tailshaft housing to have the speedo work and you would need an aftermarket controller to shift it because it is electronically controlled. Check out the Baumann Engineering website.

Search on the web for AOD and you will find some good info. Also try:

www.tccoa.com for some good tech articles

you could also go to www.ford-aode.com and pick up the master rebuild kit (new cluthces, steels, seals, etc.), a mechanical diode, and some valve body mods/shift kit.

Then pay for the labor to rebuild...
