17x10.5" bullit wheels on 95 GT?

I am looking at a set of wheels for my 95' GT. I was thinking about a set of 17x10.5 Bullit wheels with 315/35/17 rubber from American Muscle.

but I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone if they will fit without rubbing the wheelwells or getting cut up by the fender edge or rubbing the rear shocks or exhaust. My car has Flowmaster catback with stocklike stainless 2.5" tailpipes. Suspension is stock.

Can anyone tell me if there will be ANY issues by running these wheels?

How is the quality of American Muscles' wheels??

Is there an alternative wheel company that makes a bullit style wheel that you run instead if their quality is questionable??

fitting 315's out back aint hard. you need to beat in the inner wheel wells with a BFH... and flip around your quad shock... or just take it off.... you should be good on the flowmasters. mine are close... but dont rub

Thanks for the pictures. That looks friggin' bad ass. Just the look I'm looking for. According to AM, they claim they are a direct fit and should be any problems, but seems like yo had to do SOME mods to get them on there right?

Do you get any rubbing when carrying passengers or going over rough roads or terrain??

i have scrapped on a hard bump while turning. mind you that i have sportline springs on my car so its slammed. but they did hit the inside wheel well so i did have to hit it with a hammer a little no big deal... the tires have not been cut up bad or anything.

Ahhh I see. Your car is lowered? That would most likely give it some clearance issues with them big meats.

So a stock suspension'd car should have NO CLEARANCE issuse with a 315 tire and 17x10.5 rims?

What is the offset of your wheels? AM claims the offset of the bullits to be 6.8"

I have 17x11 rear TTII's with 315x35 tires. I have 2.5 tail pipes, had stock control arms and just flipped the quad. I now have UPR U/LCA, no quads, and bullitt springs. I rub on funky up hill turns on an angle or that have a bump. Nothing major but it does rub sometimes.

Holy Crap. That looks mean. Did you have your car dynoed? I was looking at your webpage and I have almost the exact same engine setup that will be going in this spring. I've got a set of Thumper GT 40's with stainless undercut 185/155 valve, gt 40/explorer intake, E303 cam, 65mm TB, stock MAF (for now?) and 19 lbs injectors. Got Flowmaster catback with stainless tailpipes -- X pipe and Pypes stainless headers will be going on after heads/cam/intake is installed. I put in 3.55 gears because the car is not a strip car, but more an everyday driver and freeway/highway driving.

What are you numbers?

I really like the look of the back, but really don't want things to rub. Can I get away with 17x10.5 with 275/40/R17 rubber......or should I just quite worrying and put on the 315's??

275 on a 10.5 will look a little funny I believe. You'd want 295s or 315s. I had 275 nittos on my 17x8s

what tires are those?

Yokohama Avis sports IIRC. I am not going to replace these with the same tires...360-ish EACH. The only reason they are on there is they were on the rims when I got them.

I hope to get some Nitto or BFG DR in about the same size (may go with a bigger numbers to equal the same size looks).

power wise I dont know...last time I was at the track or on a dyno I had an issue with some bad lifters. It made 25x-rwhp and 28x-rwtq making like 6hp from 4 rpm up and ran a 14.1 at 101 with 28* and a 2.2 60ft shifting at 4,000-4,500rpm. Replaced the lifters and it is a night and day different animal.

I LUV the looks of your cars guys! I have NO traction with my 414 0-60...well some but u get the idea. I cant wait to get deep dished, but I bought a PMS from Rick to tune me car better so I will have to get them later.

Do they really make a difference more than just looks? I have thicker sway bar, pivotal lower control arms, FULL tq box welds subframes and 255's Z rated on the back, 3.55's and she will still blow me tars off!!

O, also does it throw off the handling for turns or drive funny at all with different size tires front to back?

The sidewall with a 315 is short and stiff so with a regular street tire its not going to give you great off the line grip. I doubt a DR will do a WHOLE lot but thats what I am moving to eventually. The rears are still fairly good just off of the wear marks. Your best bet with your 4xx motor is to get some 15in lightweight rims and put a 26-28in tall tire with some sidewall on those for the "straight line".

As for corners they give you a lot of road feel and I have gotten fairly aggressive with no ill effects. I feel every contour of a non-flat road. Some roads that have a bad crown will make the car feel like its in a rut or "track" with the groove. Then again I have 275/45/17's in front on a 9.5in wide rim on wore out front susp. with bullitt springs. I am rebuilding my front end this winter, already have 03/04 cobra control arms and will get bullitt struts to match the springs. It does handle in a turn better due to the larger contact area and little flex from the short/stiff sidewall. It makes susp. issues show up larger and sooner...
