Gear swap is possible, you just have to remove the halfshafts and lower the diff out of the IRS subframe, then its a pretty much straight forward gear install.

10.5's might be pusing it, there ARE clearance issues as the IRS subframe takes up a substantial ammount of space. Sometimes people run into problems rubbing against the bolts which mount the rear of the subframe to the chassis, they either grind them down or buy low-profile bolts... Still 10.5" is a big wheel, and depending on the backspacing/offset may not work at all (without spacers).

A bit more weight, but for handling its good because it balances out the car a bit more. Also it reduces unsprung weight. Handling is amazing, especially with MM coilovers/bushings all around. I have pics in link in my sig.

Low profile IRS bolts can be had from MM for $10.

3/8 inch hubcentric spacers (you'll need the extended reach lugnuts too) can be purchased from LPF for $90.

MM doesn't carry 3/8 inch spacers. The 3/8 inch spacer is the perfect thickness for a 10.5 inch wide rim on the IRS.
