17x9 Cobra Wheels And 295/50 Wheels?

I have 17x9 cobra rims and wanted to upgrade the rear tires. Can I use 295/50 on that rim and stock suspension? Will be upgrading gears to 4:10 at some point also.

I think 275/40s are the correct size for that wheel.

So I couldn't go just a little wider with 315/40?

No it would buldge bad. Had 10in wheels with 315/35 n it was to much

315's are 12.4 inches wide. That's too wide for a 9" rim.

Generally, 2" wider is ideal, so for a 9" wide rim, the max width you really want to run is a 285 width tire.

Generally 275/40/17 is used.
