17x9 rubbing issues?

I know this question has been asked a billion times. However, I have searched and read and i still have questions.

I have a 1990 GT. The car has the stock axles and is lowered 1.25 in the front and 1.0 in the rear with H&R Sport springs. I also have adjustable control arms in the rear.

Will I have fitment issues with a 17x9 wheel with a 23.8mm offset? If i did get these wheels, I was thinking of going with 245/45 up front and 255/45 in the rear. If there are fitment issues what will they be. Quad shock...fender rolling...etc, and what will i have to do to remedy these issues?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

P.S. - Here are some attached pictures of the car, just to get an idea of how low it sits.

i 2nd this question, only since i heard of people having to remove quads with x9 rims, and others not?

i've heard it swing both ways with a 9" rim out back. it depends on the backspacing/offset. i just ordered some 17x9's and 10's for my car, i know i will have to remove the quads to fit the 10's out back. i've asked people on here before too, the 9's should be fine up front, you might have a little bit of rubbing at full lock, so it might be wise to get a couple rack limiters. and as far as rubbing the fenders, if your suspension is in good order you should be fine with that too. ike83 has the exact wheels i just got and he said his rub a tiny bit when he goes over bumps and such, but his suspension is old and worn out. at the same time my car (and your car) is lowered and his isn't. i'm going to roll my fenders/quarters anyways, for peace of mind. my wheels and tires will be here on wednesday, i'll let you know how they fit.

I used to run 17x9 cobra Rs with a 24mm offset and almost a 6in backspace with 245s all around. They didnt rub anything out back but they were real close to the exhaust. in front they rub lock to lock. By the way nice GT

rack limiters for the front are a must. I run 93 cobra replicas 17x8.5's with 255/40's for tires and the rubbed full lock in the front until I fixed it, I also am real close to the quads I can't fit my fingers between the tire and quads although if I flipped them I would gain a little more so I would think 17x9's with flipped quads would would fit.

I got 17x9 cobra an mine ...245 45 17 out back.....i had to use a 1/4 spacer cuz they hit the exhaust......and up from 235 47 17 and they rub when turning the wheel all the way..less clearence up front with the gt's..i wish i went with a smaller rim..skinnier the rim up front the better for handling

im running the 17x9 03 cobras +20mm and i had to use a 1/4" spacer in the back..they clear without it but it was really close... up front with 245's they rub just a tad but i can live with it because it looks awesome... hope that helps

Yes . . . Removing the horizontal quads out back is most likely going to be a must. I run 17x9 '95 cobra R's with 245 45 17 all around on my '92 GT which is lowered 1.5" up front and 1.25" in the rear and I just removed the quads. This hasn't been an issue because I also pitched those flimsy stock stamped steel upper and lower control arms and upgraded to BBK upper and lowers which stiffened the rear end stabilization considerably. Another option I have heard but havent tried is to flip the quads so the gas cylinder so it sits inside the wheel. You won't have to roll the rear fenders if you are still running drums in the back. You may have to with discs for precaution to avoid rubbing. I also run Flowmaster 2.5" catbacks and have no problems with rubbing on the exhaust, there is about enough room to fit a finger between the tire and the pipes. Up front, I made no changes to the steering rack or fenders and had no problems. Only very very minor rubbing during steering lock.
