18.7 sec. 2220m (mexico city) is bad time? Now 17.2

My best time is 18.7 sec. at 2220m (mexico city), is bad time???? I feel my mustang is low in HP, compression, etc.
¿Which time is ideal in stock?

Mustang 81 conver. 1990 (but motor 1988 302 H.O. F.I.) 5 vel. + rever.

222m is about 7000f t correct? Thats pretty dang high! But I think 18's is still pretty slow. You should be able to crack 16's with no prob. I live at 4500 ft and most stock 5.0's here go mid 15's.

Well, I know the air in Mexico city is pretty bad, but with a 5 speed you should do better than that! Try again, you should get to the 16's.

2220 m is 7284 ft which is 1.4 mi. That's over 5 times longer than the regular 1/4 mi track a lot of us race at.

Most stock 5.0s will do 14.5 to 16.5 seconds in a 1/4 mile depending on the condition of the car, the transmission and the driver.

I'd say 18.7 seconds is quite fast to do over a mile, so now I'm just thinking that maybe 2220m is your elevation? Sorry, now I've just confused myself.

What was the length of the track?

Edit: Haha, should have kept my mouth shut. I'll say again, 14.5 - 16.5 seconds.

18.7 sec 1/4 mil (402 m), at 74.56 mil/h (120km/h). Mexico city 7283f (2220 m)

:( . Conv. since 1991, I bought mustang 2005, I need ~16.5 minim

Thanks

I ran 1/4 and now my best time was 17.7
And week later my best time is 17.2 :D
My tires are 245/45 17, on street i have 28 of pressure, on 1/4 mile I tried front tires with 26 and rear tires 20. It is good? What are your opinion?

Thanks

If its in Mexico city its prolly starved for air that high and its probably running pretty crappy fuel too.

Its petrol man! The air there is garbage. I could barely breathe for the first few days after I got there. VW pollution. I'm impressed that you found a stang down there! I honestly only saw a handful of domestics in the 3 months I was in the country. You've managed to knock 1.5 seconds off your time by getting better at driving it seems. Have you done any more modifications yet?

Awesome dude- given that elevation and the smog and heat in that area I'd say that's great :nice:

Run regular air pressure in the front tires (35psi). Glad to here you're doing better :)

I only used fuel premium (more octane), the tires skate at start, I have change at 5000-5500 RPM and used 1,2 and 3 gear on goal.

Thanks
