18 inch wheels on 94 GT?

I'm getting new rims within a couple months and believe me, I strongly considered 18's. Once I looked up the general pricing for tires, OMG they are nearly twice the price and the best deals were 50% more than 17's.

I decided that 17x9's were the way to go for me and I get to correctly use a bigger tire like the 275/40's. I'd rather put my money in other places and still be able to put quality rubber on my wheels.

In the long run, is there really any reason to go to 18's besides looks? Don't get me wrong.....they do look very nice. :)

I just stepped up to 18s this season...I got like 3 weeks driving on the car with em...

Couple things I noticed...The price...get a package deal...mounted/bal,lugs the whole 9 yards... it doesn't hurt as much....i spent 1600.00 shipped...you wanna play you gotta pay... :D Mine are ROH Drift Rs....

If you plan on blowing the tires away all the time...Its gonna get $$$$$ and if you dont have alot of motor its gonna be hurtful to things lets say....

If your shocks/struts have mucho miles on em..Its gonna ride like ass....18s have no sidewall for cushion...being lowered will makes it worse..she will hit the bumps hard !!!
I had 15k OEM struts and shocks on mine..subs,lowered, bushings, all that stuff...it rode ok with 245/17s...the 18s made that ride and same suspension set-up go South bigtime....i just this week replaced em all..Bils in the rear/Tokico struts...ride is solid for sure...she dont bang hard now, just quietly...but its still a stiff ride...handles like its on rails...but its stiff....stiffer than I'd like....New springs are on the list to get some ride or dampening back....the average person would not like the ride...handling is sweet for sure...I have done some mods for sure...adding them to a stock suspended car may have different results....???

I read post warning of the downfalls of 18s....I wanted em though....Rubbing is not an issue at all...I have 285s in the rear..9" rim
