190cc procomp heads

Has anyone that has responded to this thead actually owned a set and had good or bad experiences with them?

Until someone with first hand experience chimes in its all just chatter.

Opinions are like *******s....

You can look at certain parts of the Heads and tell. I have personnaly held two sets of these heads. If the guys that are making these Heads, can't drill the rocker studs straight, or do a proper valve job, then how good can the castings be. All those issues, lead to valve train geometry nightmare. The fact that their 210 heads only made 400hp on a 306 speaks volumes. I've seen 210 RHS heads make 455hp on an engine dyno on a 306, and can post the dyno sheet to prove it. Plus its a magazine, people who believe the riff raff of those articles, are the same one that wind up posting on these sites asking why their combo runs like crap. Magazine articles are a Joke. All manufactuers use them as a Marketing tactic.

For that matter, the AFR 165's made 400 also on a 302. In a Magazine.

this guy has, and i never said they were junk, but if you buy a set of "bargain" cylinder heads, theres gonna be shortcomings

How many heads have you seen to compare them to? Decent heads. All kinds of things that the eye fails to notice, because it not on plain view, or it doesn't know what its looking at.

I've seen two sets of these heads. Both assembled and took apart. Granted I'm no expert, but the ones I've seen, had valves that were different heights, rocker studs not in line. Things that make setting up the valve train a PITA.

I have a set of Procomp 210s on my 427W. Pushrod holes needed to be clearanced, and the stud holes needed to be relocated as they were so far off that even with adjustable guideplates it could not be corrected. They have extensive porting by XSR cylinder heads and have turned a best of 11.83@121 so far with my slowly improving driving skill.

Would not recommend them due to those problems. I just got a new set of TEA 240cc HPs with a port matched EFI Super Vic that should be going on in late October.

Your going to have your hand full with that Combo. Should, Scratch that, better be a freaking Rocket. High Ports are no joke, even in stock form.

Of course, any driving flaws, will be magnified, with the added power. Either way Hold On :nice:
