That ought to help, but I can't help wondering why you just didn't add convertible inner rockers. I have seen this done, and it stiffens the car like crazy, and stock carpet, sills & kick panels fit it.

It has been awhile since we have worked on this project we have been working on a couple of other projects but it is time to start working on the 65 Fastback.

This is what we found under the cowl panel

After the lower cowl panel is removed

The dash also has rust and was removed

Brian cut the drip rails off than drilled out the spot welds and removed the roof. Now he can repair the rust and epoxy prime the area that the factory left bare metal.

Brian will repair the firewall the same as he did this side panel. Had gray epoxy left over from another project so brushed that area before the next patch.

Brian made a few more patches for the right front door jamb.

Brian made patches for the cowl and than I used 3m panel adhesive to bond them

Rusty, what kind of tools do you use to shape the patch panels? Just hand tools?

Traced a pattern than used a cutoff wheel followed by an angle grinder.

I meant more along the lines of bending and shaping. I'm wanting to get into some of the metal shaping stuff and didn't know if you used shrinker/stretchers, tipping dies in a bead roler, power hammer, etc.

Everything has been by using hand tools until this week we bought from Northern Tool a 3 in 1 30" shear, brake, roller. Brian is still learning how to use it.

Rusty,
When you say "Everything has been by using hand tools" can I assume that one combination of tools is an anvil and a hammer? I have found a true, old time anvil with a hammer to be one of the most amazing metal shaping machines around.
My $.02,
Gene

We don't have an anvil but we do have a hammer!
