Hi,
Could anyone please verify the numbers below: -
The independent front suspension and leaf-sprung rear counterpart were automatically upgraded when the K-code 289 was specified. Affected components included the front and rear spring rates, which were increased from 89 to 101 lb./in. (front) and from 101 to 130 lb./in. (rear) respectively. Along with heavier shock absorbers, the front anti-roll bar was increased from .69" to .84" in diameter, while the steering ratio was reduced from 22:1 to 16:1.
Thank you for any help you may provide,
Regards,
Hobo5

It's not that simple. It depends on if it was a coupe, a convertible, or a fastback, then it depends on how it was equipped. The larger front stabilizer was included with the Special Handling Package.

I have a copy of the 1960-1968 Ford Parts Book that shows the spring rates for all the early Mustangs.

So you want 1965 K-Code spring data.
Is this for a Coupe, Convertible, or Fastback?
Manual or Power Steering?
Air Cond or no Air Cond?

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Fastback and Coupé would be my interest..
As I understand it, K-cars only came with 4-speeds, no A/C or Power steering.
Thanks again,

The Coupes and fastbacks used the same front springs and there were 2 versions for '65 that were used in the Special Handling Package which was included with GTs and K Codes. It also could be ordered separately on all V8 models. The C5ZZ-5310-E spring was rated at 1491 pounds and was identified by a brown stripe. These were used with power steering and W/ and W/O A/C or manual transmission with A/C. The C5ZZ-5310-F spring was rated at 1413 pounds with a red stripe and were used with manual steering and no A/C.

There were 2 sets of rear leaf springs used. The coupes used 1 style, while the fastbacks and convertibles used the other as they were heavier in the rear than coupes. The fast back and convertible used C5ZZ-5560-E rated at 650 pounds load rate, while the coupes used C5ZZ-5560-F rated at 610 pounds load rate.
