1966 C4 to Toploader Speedometer Cable Location?

Does anyone have a pic or can explain where the speedometer cable is routed through after it leaves the firewall and before it reaches the tail end of the transmission. This was a conversion from a C4 to a toploader. The catalogs claim the 1966 automatic and standard trans use the same speedometer cable. I do have longtube headers, so some modification might be needed?

Wish I could offer "good help", but I used a 68' 4 speed cable on mine. I routed it from the firewall, OVER the tranny in front of the cross member, and it makes a deliberate sharp curve into the tranny on the passenger side.

Route it any way you can to keep it away from the headers and try to avoid sharp bends.

Thanks guys. I got it to work under the transmission and not touching the headers, but it's a tight fit.

I have mine run from the firewall down to the drivers frame rail turning up and over the trans tunnel about halfway down the tailshaft into the trans.
smooth bends will help keep the needle steady.
