Hi everyone,

My 1966 mustang 200 had a leaky carb, but ran fine. I decided the garage smelling like gas was not a good idea. I bought a new carb from a local parts place, and it replaced it, ran fine the first day. Next afternoon went to start it up and the carb floods, engine cranks but not start. It floods pretty bad I can see the gas squirting all over from the valve at the top. It's a single barrel autolite 1100. Any suggestions?

The float level likely needs set.
What brand? I’d call their support line before adjusting or returning it.

Thanks! Took apart the Carb, the float was filled with gas, and had small cracks in it. Replaced it. There was also a check ball missing for spark advance, added that to it, and now she runs fine.......for now.

What brand was the rebuild with these issues? Unless the shaft was worn, a rebuild kit on your old carb sounds like a better deal.
I bought a new Holley 10-15 years ago that must have been made on a hangover Monday. It had several flaws that made leaks internal and external to chase down. Chasing down the leaks soured my enthusiasm for the project.

The local speed shop with a line directly to Holley. They replaced the front bowl under warranty. (it ate the o rings on needle seats from a burr). But the rest I figured out outside of the warranty period.
