1966 Mustang Glove Box

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I have a tech question. I'm trying to replace the glove box insert in my 66' Mustang and I can't seen to get it in. The old one was trashed and ripped right out, but I can't seem to get this new in without bending the weak cardboard. The bottom is too cramped to slip it in and the front opening is too small, has anyone replaced their glove box inserts on a 1964 - 1966 Mustang who could give me some advice?

Thanks, Andy

I put mine in through the front. I had to push in on the middle of the sides of the box to make it thin enough to squeeze through the opening. Your other option would be to pull the heater box to gain enough room to fit it in through the back, but it seems easier to simply force it in through the front. It didn't damage the new box pushing it in this way. Just be careful. I did have to remove the top parts of the latch to gain enough space.

Superformance,

You will need to fold it a little to get it in. There are some crease lines on the sides of the glove box, this is where you will need to collapse the box. Then install it through the front opening. Once it's in place and you install the screws, hinge and hardware, it will open back up.

Hope that helps and welcome to the board.
