Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some help. I am rebuilding the HVAC box in my 1967 Coupe. It has factory a/c. I have the factory repair manual, but it's not very much help at all. When I took it apart, there were somethings that were NOT installed correctly, this was clear. I repaired all of the fiberglass on the box itself, now I am reassebling it. BUT, I can't figure one thing out. URight in front of, kind of under the heater core there's a small diverter door. Maybe an inch and a halve wide. Looks like it's designed to block all air from going through the heater core, I presume suring a/c max cold. How does this lieelt guy get mounted? Does it get mounted so that it folds UNDER the heater core, or straight up and down, or in FRONT of the heater core (or straight up or down). It confuses me, it looks like it would block the water flow (from the a/c evaperator) from the drain hole, but I guess it doesn't reallt fit THAT tight. And if anyone has a picture of this, I'm not sure which angle to install the rod either. Thanks.

Joe

The #2 pix were taken as viewing the lower half of the AC unit from inside the car (blower to the left). This shows the offset of the lever to be toward the blower and slightly upward. thus when the vacuum is applied the lever would be pulled back and upward.

#5 pix is taken as viewing from the passenger side looking to the blower connection. it shows the flap being in a closed possition resing against the stop in the bottom center of the lower half. Thus when vacuum is applied the vent flips toward the blower opening.
