I have an idea, I just wanted to see if anyone else thought this would be wise. I am shaving the cowl vent on my car....so there will be no windshield washers (unless i rig up some nozzles on the wiper blades themselves) It is kind of a non-issue to me anyway, i don't care and neither do 99% of the state inspection places around here. Anyway, i have an early 67 with the water bag....I want to do away with the bag and upgrade to the plastic bottle and instead of use it for washer fluid, use it for a radiator overflow that retains a stock look....and since the fluid will come in from the bottom in SHOULD recirculate back into the radiator. The only concern i have is the hot liquid....but the plastic container being built to go in the engine compartment should be able to handle the heat....what do you think?

Well the heater/ ac won't be a problem, i am getting an all new underdash unit that does not use the cowl vents, it gets its air from inside the cabin....the fresh air vent will be useless, but as far as im concerned with a functioning a/c its useless anyways, if i want some fresh air i will crack a window. Also there are 2 huge drain holes in each end of the cowl, its not like its air tight.
Yeah. I once drove to work after forgetting to take the cowl cap off, and the heater/defroster didn't work worth a crap. Those drains just don't cut it as air inlets.
Who's heater unit has no fresh air provision?

Vintage Air System doesn't. It comes with a block-off plate. It heats and cools in recirculate mode only. Like stated by robbz28, If fresh air is needed, crack a window.

I think the plastic should handle the heat of the coolant. It doesn't gush out a bunch of hot coolant all at once. A normally operating system will only push out the coolant as it expands. Also there will already be some coolant in the tank at ambient temperture to mix with. You might have to drill a small hole in the cap (if there isn't one already) so air can be displaced.
Well, the whole point to hot rodding is to have fun...make something unique, stand out a little bit. My car is a coupe, not a GT not a fastback, its not going to have the value of the above mentioned models. So i don't feel bad about customizing it one bit. If i wanted it to look like everyone elses ride i would just fix it like normal...its my ride and i will paint it with pink and purple polka dots if i want to...
Sorry, but the whole point of my question starting this thread was if the washer bottle idea i had would work, not about (why do you want to do it) it dont matter why, just will it work....thanks Tim65GT for your confirming my feelings, i figured it would work....on another note i will take good pictures and document the process of shaving the cowl vents and make the info available to anyone else who is interested....and no, im not painting my car pink and purple...
