im thinking its about time i swap a V8 into my 6cyl mustang and need some pointers.I will be swapping in a lil 302,so what kind of problems am i gonna encounter? The current set-up is a straight 6 with a 3 speed manual.Im gonna be replacing the tranny with a C4 (i have a couple in the garage) but what bout the Driveshaft?do i need to change that or will the stock one work?same with the rear end,is that something i have to change out?if so the rearend aint a problem,i know where i can pick one up for $75.Also,ive read that there are a crapload of different variations of C4 trannies, how do i find out which ones i have?Ok what about the fuel lines and sending unit?will i have to change those out as well or are the stock ones good for sufficient power?there are obviously other roadblocks but any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.I know i sound like a total newb but im used to older chevys more than fords.

If you do a search you'll find a list of everything needed in the swap. Its fuel line (up to the engine itself) and sending unit, given they are in good shape, are fine. Not positive about your other questions.
What's the 302 coming out of? Not going to leave it stock or you?

Did this swap when I was in high school, without much help. That's how easy it is. The driveshaft may work as it is. Don't spend money until your sure.

I would highly recommend sticking with a manual trans. You will need a new Z-bar if you do.

This question comes up a couple of times a month, and has done so for years. You should be able to find them in the archives (except you cannot search for "I6" or "V8" since they are too short). I think we need a sticky tech article for this subject and the tire/wheel/backspace fitment thread as well.

There's a thread for the conversion stickied in the FAQ thread.

edit: just click on the "classic talk" link and you'll find the FAQ thread right there.
