i am in the process of collecting all the parts needed to build my 331 stroker... i am wondering about a high volume oil pump and deep sump pan... is it worth the money or would a standard replacement pump and stock pan work just fine?
i would go with the stock pump as it will do just fine in your engine, but i would also go with the larger oil pan as well as extra capacity is always good. i would however suggest rather than a deep sump pan, you use instead a "T" style pan. that way you get teh extra capacity, and you dont lose ground clearance.
i wasnt sure if the T style would fit between the control arms or not. i found something similar for about 170 bucks... pan, pickup, and dipstick... http://www.cprparts.com/products/oilsystems.html 7 qts
