1970 mustang 302 engine ?help

Hello everyone.I have been a fan of this site for a while now and I needed some help.I don't know to much about mustang engines but I have a few questions.

I have a 302 v8 engine on my 1970 mustang.what is the fastes and easiest and cheapest way to make my engine faster.it has long tube headers and everything els is stock.You see I don't have a lot of money but for the past week my friend has been racing me with his 2001 camaro v6.he has been beating me by about a car and a half and I'm getting tired of it.

please help what can I buy or do to improve my speed.thank you

nitrous, nice intake,demon carb+good ignition,cam, for a little more find or send your heads out to get them ported

I have 2 flowmasters 40 series and sorry if I'm beibng a noob but what cam and heads should I go with???can you explain to me what ported means.

Porting is when a shop "shaves" the intake and exhaust ports in the heads in order to create smoother flow along with more flow to the combustion chamber
