i am converting a 1973 mach1 with a 351C from an FMX to a toploader. i am in the process of installing the linkage and it looks like the z-bar was mounted in different places from 71 to 73. i've got a picture of a boss 351 and it shows that the engine side mount is bolted to the motor itself. in my shop manual it shows that is mounted on a bracket bolted to the bellhousing on a 73. the problem i am having is one of alignment so i am wondering if the z-bar does actually mount in different positions between the two years, is there a different z-bar? also, has anyone tried using a cable system with this setup and if so, how effective is it?
